The thing to note here is that this person appeared to the soldiers of South Korea eight times through CCTV cameras. It has been told that this person, wearing a wet suit, reached the border swimming by the sea. After this, it traveled five kilometers on foot and spent three hours without any surveillance. During this time it appeared on the CCTV camera eight times. However, when it appeared for the 9th time, South Korean soldiers took action and arrested it. So far it has not been clear why this man had infiltrated through this dangerous path.
South Korea’s army is unaware of the drainage tunnel, the distance from it
According to a report by the Yonhap News Agency, at one time this person also traveled through a drainage tunnel built in the ‘demilitarized zone’ (DMZ). The South Korean army does not even know about this tunnel. Which is quite surprising. This incident seems quite shocking, because this zone is considered to be equipped with the world’s heaviest fortifications and sensor systems. Significantly, troops of North Korea and South Korea are deployed on this border in large numbers.
What happened during the journey?
A report was submitted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) of South Korea, which was aware of the security lapses on 16 February. JCS refused to recognize the man. It is not yet known where he started his journey. But it has been told that he must have started the journey through the sea. He appeared on the banks of the river wearing a wet suit. After this he hid the suit under a stone. Then he entered a drainage tunnel crossing the barbed wire along the banks of the river. In this way he crossed the DMZ. During this time he appeared in CCTV eight times. On seeing the 9th time, his exact location was ascertained and he was arrested.
