Emma Coronel Aispuro, wife of Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman (Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman), has been arrested in the US. The US Department of Justice has reported that Emma has been arrested on charges of international drug trafficking from an airport located in the country’s state of Virginia.
Emma Coronel Aesipuro, the wife of 31-year-old drug lord, has dual citizenship in the US and Mexico. He was arrested at Dulles International Airport on Monday. It is believed that he will be produced before a federal court in Washington on Tuesday. Emma is alleged to have helped her husband ‘Al Chapo’ escape from a prison in Mexico in 2015. Apart from this, she was making another plan to drive ‘Al Chapo’ out of jail. But before that in 2017, ‘Al Chapo’ was extradited to America.
Accused runs multibillion-dollar cartel of ‘Al Chapo’
Emma Coronel Aespuro is accused of smuggling cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and cannabis into the US through the Sinaloa cartel. In addition, she helped to run the multibillion-dollar cartel of her notorious crook husband Joaquin ‘Al Chapo’ Gujman. At the same time, it has been revealed through court documents that she had purchased land close to the jail to help her husband escape from the jail.
Drug smuggling in US in large quantities in 25 years
‘Al Chapo’ was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2019. His Sinaloa cartel smuggled large amounts of cocaine and drugs into the US during his 25-year crime-ridden reign. ‘Al Chapo’ was such a notorious crook. This can be gauged from the fact that he had raised an ‘army’ of his own. Its task was to abduct, torture and murder anyone who came in the cartel’s way.
