How does China take repressive action against Uighurs Muslims living in Xinjiang province. The whole world is aware of this. Even though China has been saying around the world that it does not do human rights violations in Xinjiang. But the international fraternity does not appear to be satisfied with its responses. In this episode, Canadian lawmakers have described China’s actions against Uygur Muslims as genocide. A resolution has also been passed in this regard.
Canadian MPs on Monday passed a non-binding motion (Motion) in the Canadian Parliament. In this, the treatment being done by China with the Uygurs has been called genocide. At the same time, the government of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been told to officially consider it a genocide. This proposal has been introduced by the opposition Conservatives Party.
Trudeau’s party MPs stay away from the proposal
The resolution brought against China was unanimously passed by 266 votes out of 338 in the House of Commons. On the other hand, the rest of the MPs, including the MPs of Trudeau’s Liberal Party, kept themselves away from this proposal. This proposal assumes, ‘Uygurs are being massacred and happening in China.’ The lawmakers have cited several reports in the resolution, in which Muslim minorities living in Xinjiang face political and anti-religious sentiments. They are forced to make wages. Also, their cultural sites are being broken.
10 lakh Uygurs imprisoned in re-education camps
A bill related to the proposal has also been brought, in which it is said that the Winter Olympics in 2022 will be held elsewhere. It says that if the massacre continues, the Winter Olympics should be done elsewhere. According to foreign experts, more than 10 lakh Uygur Muslims have been kept in political re-education camps. However, Beijing has denied this. It has claimed that they are trained in vocational training centers. So that these people stay away from terrorism and separatism.
