Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will hold a high-level meeting with Health Minister Satyendar Jain and senior government officials this evening to review the condition of Coronavirus in the capital Delhi. CM Kejriwal has appointed Deputy CM Manish Sisodia as the “Nodal Minister” for epidemic management and inter-ministerial coordination.
According to Hindustan Times, an official of the Chief Minister’s Office, on condition of anonymity, said, “The CM will meet with the Health Minister and senior officials to review the situation at 4 pm Covid-19 today. The meeting will be held at the secretariat. CM will also review the condition of hospital beds, ICU, ventilators etc. “
The meeting was called a day after Chief Minister Kejriwal expressed concern over the situation in Corona. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) imposed a ban in the capital, including temporarily closing weekend weekends, shopping malls, gyms, spas and amusement parks, 30% on the capacity of cinema halls and multiplexes, while eating in restaurants. Restrictions and allowed weekly markets in each municipal area for one week per day.
The DDMA said in its order that there was already a night curfew, which would continue even after this order. The Delhi government said that a separate order signed by Kejriwal stated, “Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, will serve as the nodal minister for Covid-19 management and will be responsible for inter-ministerial coordination till further orders. . “
A senior official of the CM’s office said that such a delegation was needed, as ever since the Corona cases have increased, the Chief Minister has been personally monitoring the healthcare management system continuously.
The government’s health bulletin states that 16,699 new Covid-19 cases were registered in Delhi on Friday and 112 more deaths occurred. The positivity rate in Delhi was 20.22%, the highest in the past 294 days.
Delhi’s positivity rate fell below 5% on 3 December. On December 28, it came down below 1% and remained below that number for 82 days. The city has more than 54,000 active cases.
