How dangerous is this malware
Not only hot wallets but also cold crypto wallets like Zcash, Armory, Bytecoin, Jaxx, Exodus, Ethereum, Electreum, Atomic Wallet, Guarda and Coinomi are reportedly being targeted through this cryptocurrency malware. According to cyber intelligence company Cyble, the PennyWise malware is an “emerging threat” that has developed recently.

In a blog post on June 30, Cyble said that PennyWise was being promoted by thieves as a free bitcoin mining software. He has posted more than 80 YouTube videos containing links to download malware. People looking for bitcoin mining software on YouTube may fall prey to this malware. PennyWise targets over 30 Chrome-based browsers, over 5 Mozilla-based browsers, Opera and Microsoft Edge. Malware can take screenshots and steal data from chat applications like Discord and Telegram.
