Twitter received a stern warning from the Indian government. The government has given a stern warning to social media giant Twitter for not taking any action against the account that posted inflammatory speeches against the country. The government has said that Twitter needs to follow local laws. Along with this, India has talked about promoting indigenous app Ku.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued a statement saying that the government has expressed its deepest displeasure towards Twitter. Twitter has long delayed following the government’s orders. He reminded Twitter that the Constitution and law are the largest in India. It is expected that the responsible entities follow the rules of India.
The government’s statement came when virtual meetings were held between IT ministry officials and Twitter officials. Twitter’s Vice President Global Policy Monique Meche and Legal Team Vice President Jim Baker were present at the meeting.

The government told Twitter in this meeting that the way officially fake, unverified, anonymous and automatic accounts are allowed. This raises doubts on whether there will be transparent and better interaction on this platform.

The Indian government also reminded Twitter about the action taken in the Capitol Hill case in this meeting. The secretary said that Twitter took immediate action at the time, but what happened after the Red Fort case. There was also outrage over Twitter’s double standards on both incidents. The secretary also said that several tweets were made on Twitter with objectionable hash tags. They mention provocative things. India has spoken of taking strict action against those accounts. The ministry further said in its statement that in India we respect freedom and criticism. They are part of democracy. The right to freedom of speech and expression is found in the constitution of the country.

Let us tell you that on January 26, a lot of objectionable activities took place during the peasant movement. After that, the government had asked Twitter to delete about 1100 accounts and posts. The government says that misleading and false information is being spread against agricultural laws in these posts and through accounts. Apart from this, through these accounts and posts, activities which hurt the sovereignty and integrity of the country and instigating against the country were started.

Will the government take tough measures against Twitter for ignoring the Indian Constitution?
