The Supreme Court reprimanded the Indian Railways for the late running of trains. One person missed the flight due to the delay of the train. In such a situation, the Supreme Court has directed the Railways to pay a compensation of Rs 30,000 to that person.
A bench of Justice MR Shah and Justice Aniruddha Bose has said that if the railways is unable to explain why the train is delayed, then it will be necessary to pay the passenger compensation.
The Supreme Court said that the time of passengers is precious and someone has to be held accountable for the delay in trains. The court said, it is time for competition and accountability. If public transportation is to compete with the private sector, then it will have to improve its system and working style. The people/travellers of the country cannot depend on the mercy of the government/administration. Somebody has to take responsibility.
