Tokyo Olympics 2021: The Haryana government has opened the treasury for Tokyo Olympics silver medalist wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced a job and plot concession along with cash reward for the 23-year-old wrestler who won India a silver medal in men’s freestyle 57 kg.
The Haryana government has promised Rs 4 crore and a Class-I job for Ravi Dahiya, who won the silver medal after missing the gold medal match. Along with this, he announced to give 50 percent concession on buying plots of his choice in Haryana.
The Chief Minister told reporters on Thursday that Ravi Dahiya played his final match very bravely. I appreciate it very much and congratulate them. Class-1 job has been ensured for them.
Manohar Lal said that wherever desired in Dahiya Haryana, a plot would be given at 50 percent concession. Along with this, an amount of Rs 4 crore will also be given to them. An indoor stadium of wrestling equipped with modern facilities will be built in his village Nahari.
Let us tell you that in the final of men’s freestyle 57 kg wrestling event, Ravi suffered a 4-7 loss to Russia’s Javur Uguvoy. Ravi Dahiya missed out on the gold medal, but managed to win the silver medal.
Dahiya said that he might have deserved to win the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, but he will try to fulfill his dream of winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
The 23-year-old told PTI after the men’s 57kg final that the silver medal will never give him satisfaction, though his performance means a lot to Indian wrestling.
Ravi’s father Rakesh made a lot of sacrifices to get him here. He still works on leased farms to support the family. Dahiya said that he was not thinking only about money and his focus was only on winning the Olympic gold medal.
