You can buy FASTag from PayTM, Amazon, Google Pay, Snapdeal etc. Its 25 banks in the country are also providing it.
The toll fee collection through Fastag on the national highway network has increased by 23% in the last four days and the amount reached Rs 102 crore on Friday. This is the highest ever toll collection in the history of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). Sources said the total toll collection through FASTags was Rs 95 crore on 17 February 2021 with 60 lakh transactions before NHAI designated all toll lanes as fastag lanes.
Officials said that cash transactions have fallen below 10% during this week. One official said, “It takes a few days to cover all the details of the cash transaction. We are looking forward to the record collection of user fees. ” Sources said that the government has also stepped up the monitoring of the toll plaza to see if passengers are crossing the toll with valid fastags.
NHAI said that apart from making the government’s fast tag mandatory, it has implemented 100 percent cashless toll collection system on national highways. NHAI said in a statement, “After midnight of 15/16 February 2021, NHAI has successfully done 100% cashless toll collection on the national highways of the country, following the guidelines for mandatory user fees payment through Fastag on toll plazas. The statement said that with the sale of more than 2.5 lakh tags in the last two days, the attitude of the users regarding the new system is positive.
Can toll plaza without balance in FASTag wallet
NHAI has done away with the minimum balance requirement in Fastag account. This allows the driver to cross the toll plaza in Fastag wallet without any minimum balance. This will provide a lot of convenience to the drivers and there will be no queue of vehicles at the toll plaza. However, now this facility has been given to vehicle cars, jeeps, vans only.
NHAI says that if a user’s account is not negative, even if it does not have minimum balance, it can still go through the toll plaza. If there is no money left in his account after passing through the toll, then the bank can deduct money from security money. In such a situation, the user will have to maintain the security money at the time of recharge.
