Economic Affairs Secretary Tarun Bajaj has been given the additional responsibility of Revenue Secretary. This information has been given by the government on Saturday. Currently Ajay Bhushan Pandey is Revenue Secretary and his term ends on February 28. The second part of the budget session will start from 8 March, which will run till 8 April. Finance Bill 2021 will be discussed in this session.
The first part of the budget session was from 29 January to 13 February. In the first session, on 1 February, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented Budget 2021 for the financial year 2021-22. Finance Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey is a 1984 batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre. He was appointed Finance Secretary in March 2020. Prior to that, he was appointed revenue secretary in December 2018. He has held this responsibility for more than a year.
Pandey has also been the CEO of UIDAI
He was made the CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) before being appointed as Revenue Secretary in December 2018. He held this position for eight years. During his tenure, Pandey used technology to its fullest. With its help, there was a lot of success in curbing tax evasion. He developed a system with the help of which the different cooperative units of the government were able to join together on one platform. This greatly improved the tax collection and caused problems. Ajay Bhushan Pandey is a technical graduate from IIT Kanpur. Apart from this, he has done PhD in Computer Science from University of Minnesota.
