The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) can contact Anil Kumble for the post of head coach of Team India and VVS Laxman, famous for his artistic batting. Anil Kumble has previously been the coach of the Indian cricket team. However, four years ago, he resigned due to differences with captain Virat Kohli. Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI may forget these old differences and ask these two legendary players to apply for the post of head coach.
Team India’s current coach Ravi Shastri’s tenure will end after the T20 World Cup. In such a situation, BCCI is considering the names of Anil Kumble and Laxman for the post of head coach.

Kumble was the coach of the Indian team in 2016-17. He was appointed coach in place of Shastri by the Cricket Advisory Committee headed by Sachin Tendulkar, Laxman and Ganguly. But his differences with Kohli came to the fore after the loss to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final. Kumble then resigned as the head coach.
Apart from Kumble, BCCI may also approach Laxman, who has been associated with Indian Premier League team Sunrisers Hyderabad for the last few years. However, it is being said that Kumble will be a strong contender for the coach’s post in both the players.

BCCI sources told news agency PTI on the condition of confidentiality, “There is a need to improve the circumstances under which Anil Kumble stepped down. The way the CoA (Committee of Administrators) came under pressure from Kohli and he (Kumble) was removed was not right. However, it will also depend on whether Kumble or Laxman is willing to apply for the post.
Kohli has already announced that he will step down as the T20 captain after the World Cup. The BCI would love to see an Indian as the head coach. Apart from playing more than 100 Test matches, Kumble and Laxman also have coaching experience. Another option is to consider a foreign coach.
