Assam-Mizoram Tension: The representatives of the Assam and Mizoram governments held talks on the fresh border dispute on Thursday. Both the states agreed to settle the inter-state boundary dispute amicably. He said that the Assam government has also decided to cancel an advisory issued against Mizoram.
A joint statement issued by both the states said that both the state governments have agreed to maintain peace in the inter-state border areas and welcomed the deployment of neutral force by the Government of India in this regard.
For this purpose, both the states will not send their respective forest and police forces for patrolling, establishing dominance, enforcement, the joint statement said. Also, there will be no fresh deployment of forces in the areas where there was a clash between the police forces of the two states in the recent times.
This includes all areas along the Assam-Mizoram border in Karimganj, Hailakandi and Cachar districts of Assam and Mamit and Kolasib districts of Mizoram.

The joint statement was signed by Assam’s Border Security and Development Minister Atul Bora and the department’s commissioner and secretary GD Tripathi, and Mizoram’s Home Minister Lalchmalliana and Home Secretary Vanlangathska.
