In the photo going viral, the screenshot of the tweet reads, “If Modi ji had not been in government, petrol would have cost Rs 200 today: Manoj Tiwari, BJP leader”.

Many users have shared this screenshot on Twitter and Facebook.

What we found in the investigation

As written in the screenshot being shared, we have not received any such news report stating that BJP leader Manoj Tiwari has said something like this on petrol prices.

To find out who shared this viral tweet, we searched on Twitter by putting the keywords ‘Petrol price if Modi ji’s government is not there’. We got an account named ‘Dainik Khaskar’ whose Twitter handle is ‘@DainikKhaskar’. This tweet was shared with this account.

If you match both the tweets that are going viral and the screenshots shared with this account, then you will see the same time and date on both screenshots. Apart from this, the same text is also written in both screenshots.

It is clear that this tweet made in the name of BJP leader Manoj Tiwari is fake. Manoj Tiwari has not spoken to what is written on the tweet. It was shared with a parody account, which many social media users started sharing as a tweet by Manoj Tiwari. This claim made about Manoj Tiwari is wrong.
