Two FIRs have been registered against Union Minister Narayan Rane in Pune and Mahad and complaints have been lodged in Nashik, Thane and Pune over his statement of slapping Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Apart from registering cases in police stations, angry Shiv Sainiks put up hoardings in Mumbai and also staged protests in different cities of Maharashtra. Along with this, Shiv Sena and BJP workers have also clashed at many places.
News18 quoted sources as saying that there is speculation that Rane may be arrested soon. The Nashik Police, following all protocols and informing the Vice-President (since he is a Union Minister), has issued orders for his arrest and production before the court.
Nashik Police Commissioner Deepak Pandey said that Shiv Sena Nashik chief filed a complaint last night that Union Minister Narayan Rane’s statement (against Maharashtra CM) has hurt him, it may lead to law and order situation. Keeping this in mind, an FIR has been registered at Nashik Cyber Police Station.
Pandey further said, “This is a serious matter. A team has been sent from here for punitive action against the Union minister. Wherever they are, they will be produced before the court. We will abide by the court’s decision.” ”
Some reports said that a team of Nashik police has left for Chiplun in Konkan area, where Rane is presently present. Rane tweeted, “I have not committed any crime. If anyone defames me, I will file a case against them.”
NCP leader and cabinet minister Nawab Malik said, “Action will be taken. No one is bigger than our laws.” Shiv Sena ally NCP has also planned a protest in Pune at around 6.30 pm on Tuesday.
Shiv Sena supporters protested against Rane in Solapur, where they blackened his photo. They also ransacked the Bharatiya Janata Party’s office in Nashik.
In fact, Rane said during his Jan Ashirwad Yatra near Raigad district on Monday, “It is shameful that the Chief Minister does not know the year of independence. He turned back during his speech to ask about the counting of the years of independence, if Had I been there, I would have hit (her) with a loud slap.”
Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut wrote to PM Narendra Modi, requesting him to remove Minister Narayan Rane from the Union Cabinet over a remark against Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray.
