Due to the farmers’ agitation in Punjab, the movement of trains is being badly affected. Farmers began an indefinite protest in Jalandhar on Friday to pressurize the Punjab government to raise sugarcane prices and issue arrears of payment.
The movement of trains has been stopped on Ludhiana-Amritsar and Ludhiana-Jammu rail routes. Farmers have blocked railway tracks for the fifth consecutive day. Due to this, railway passengers are facing many difficulties.
According to railway officials of Firozpur division, 27 trains have been cancelled. While 36 trains have been diverted or short terminated.

Some premium trains are also included in the list of canceled trains. In this, trains like Shatabdi Express running between New Delhi and Amritsar, Amritsar-Haridwar Jan Shatabdi Express, Shan-e-Punjab Express, Delhi-Pathankot Express and Jammu Tawi-Sarai Rohilla Express have been canceled by the Railways.
Similarly, Railways has also canceled train number 04687 Saharsa-Amritsar running from Saharsa on Monday. Apart from this, the railway has also canceled the train number 04651 Jaynagar-Amritsar special train running from Jaynagar on 24th August.
At the same time, Railways has decided to run many trains from the divert route. In which train number 05212 Amritsar-Darbhanga special train running from Amritsar on 23 August will leave from Bareilly.
