South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company on Tuesday launched its mid-size crossover Ioniq 5. The company has high hopes for this electric car and with the help of this car, it wants to join the list of top three global electric vehicle makers by 2025.
Hyundai said that this model is based on the new electric vehicle-only platform which uses its own battery module technology. Apart from this, less components are required from the existing electric cars of Hyundai, so that more production can be done at a lower price.
The launch of the Ioniq 5 is part of the company’s plan to gain a 10 percent share in the global electric vehicles sales market by 2025. According to industry tracker SNE Research, Hyundai and Kia Motors have achieved a total stake of 7.2 percent in the period January to September in 2020. Both companies have plans to sell 1 million electric vehicles by 2025. Hyundai Motors president Chang Jae-hoon said that he expects the demand for electric vehicles to grow by 30 percent this year.

According to the company, this car will be available in a few selected places in the first half of this year.
