Kalyan Singh, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and former Governor of Rajasthan, has passed away. He had been ailing for a long time and was undergoing treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow. A statement issued by the hospital said that he died on Saturday due to sepsis and multi-organ failure.
The hospital said that Kalyan Singh’s organs had gradually stopped functioning, due to which he died on Saturday evening. Many leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other parties, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed grief over his death.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that in the passing away of Kalyan Singh ji, today we have lost such a great personality who left an indelible mark at the national level with his political acumen, administrative experience and development oriented approach. May God give peace to the departed soul.
In view of Kalyan Singh’s health, he was first admitted to Lohia Hospital. Later on July 4, when his condition deteriorated again, he was shifted to PGI from here, where he breathed his last on Saturday evening.
