The problems of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh may increase. Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against senior IPS officer Parambir Singh, five other policemen and two others for allegedly demanding Rs 15 crore from a builder for withdrawing the case against him.
According to news agency ANI, a businessman has lodged an FIR against a total of eight people, including 6 police officers. At the same time, two other people are also involved in this FIR, who have been arrested. Police is interrogating both.
Based on the complaint of the builder, a case has been registered at the Marine Drive police station in South Mumbai, an official said. He did not give further details of the matter. He said that in this context two partners of the builder Sunil Jain and Sanjay Purnima have been arrested in the case.
According to the complaint, Jain and Purnima, in connivance with the police officials, had demanded Rs 15 crore from the builder to withdraw some cases against him. The builder has named the former Mumbai Police Commissioner and others in his complaint, the official said.
Let us tell you that in March this year, Singh was removed from the top post of Mumbai Police and made Director General Home Guard after the arrest of suspended police officer Sachin Waje in connection with the finding of a vehicle laden with explosives near the house of veteran industrialist Mukesh Ambani.
Former police commissioner Parambir Singh had accused former Maharashtra Home Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Anil Deshmukh of extortion of 100 crores. After this case, there was a political earthquake in the country including Maharashtra.
