ESIC sickness benefit for women: The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has relaxed the conditions for women to avail sickness benefits. The ESIC on Tuesday announced the liberalization of the terms of contribution of insured women to avail of the disease. In addition, ESIC has also decided to open more new hospitals to improve the supply of services under its health insurance scheme. This decision was taken in the 184th meeting of ESIC, headed by Labor Minister Santosh Gangwar.
The Labor Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that in this meeting, many notable decisions were taken to improve the medical infrastructure for the benefit of its insured employees. This will improve the service supply system. Under this, ESIC has liberalized the terms of contribution for the insured woman taking maternity benefit. Earlier, ESIC had increased maternity benefit from 12 weeks to 26 weeks. This relaxation in conditions will be applicable from January 20, 2017. The decision to increase maternity benefit from the same day was also effective. In some cases, women were not able to get the disease benefits after taking maternity benefit. The reason for this was that she could not meet the minimum 78-day contribution conditions for this. Now these conditions have been liberalized.
300 bed hospital to be built in Haridwar
The ESIC has decided to build a 300-bed hospital in Haridwar, which will have 50 super-specialties. Apart from this, it has been decided to build a 350-bed hospital at Sheelanagar in Visakhapatnam. It will have a separate super specialty wing with 50 beds. Apart from this, there was a special discussion on how to improve service in the meeting.
