The Delhi court has sent actor Deep Sidhu into police custody for seven days in connection with the Red Fort Violence incident during the January 26 violence. Police said in the court that Sidhu is one of the main accused in inciting the incident at the Red Fort on Republic Day. Deep was presented by the Delhi Crime Branch in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Pragya Gupta. Seeking 10 days remand, the police said that we need Deep Sidhu’s remand as he has to be questioned. A 10-day remand was sought from the police. However, the court has sent Deep Sidhu to 7 days police custody.
On Monday, Delhi Police Special Cell was arrested by Deep Sidhu, who was absconding in the incident of violence in the Red Fort during the tractor parade of farmers on Republic Day in protest against the new agricultural laws of the Center. Officials said that Sidhu was arrested from Karnal bypass at 10.40 am on Monday night. He said that he was looking for a case registered in connection with inciting a mob in the Red Fort on Republic Day. The police had announced a reward of one lakh rupees to the person giving his information.
More than 500 policemen were injured
More than 500 policemen were injured in the violence on Republic Day and one demonstrator was killed. Sidhu had been posting videos on social media since the incident. Police sources said Sidhu was in touch with a female friend who lives in California. He used to feed her by making videos and she uploaded them on Sidhu’s Facebook account. Officials said Sidhu was constantly changing locations to avoid arrest.
Police made many serious allegations against protesters
Significantly, on January 26, farmers took out a tractor parade in support of the demand of farmers’ organizations to withdraw the three new agricultural laws of the Center and during this there were clashes between farmers and police. Many protesters drove up to the Red Fort riding tractors and put a religious flag in a flagstone there. In the FIR registered in the Red Fort violence, police said that the protesters had snatched two magazines with 20 cartridges from two constables and damaged the vehicles.
Police said in the FIR that the mob later put different flags there. He spread chaos there. The crowd was asked to come down but she went to the Meena Bazaar area to enter the Red Fort. When the police attempted to drive them out of the Lahore Gate, the mob turned violent and attacked the policemen. The mob hit the police personnel and pushed them into the wells.
