The outbreak of the Corona virus epidemic (COVID second wave) is increasing in the country. Now the number of new cases of infection has reached close to two lakhs daily. At the same time, for the first time this year, the daily death toll from the corona has also crossed the thousand. Meanwhile, according to a top virologist, the country will still take more time to get relief from the second wave of corona virus.
According to News18, virologist Dr. Shahid Jameel says that the second wave of corona may last till the end of May and the number of new infections can reach three lakhs every day.
Jamil said in a conversation with News18 that the pace of increase in the number of new cases is really frightening. If you look at the active case growth, then it is growing at a speed of about 7% every day.
He said that this percentage is very high. If this speed is maintained then we can reach the number of three lakhs every day. This is also mentioned in some models. Dr. Jamil says that the new mutants are definitely more infectious, but there is no data on deaths from this.
Vaccine deficiency claims rejected
However, Dr. Jamil has rejected claims of lack of corona vaccine in Bharti. He said that the Serum Institute of India can produce 5 to 6 crore doses in a month alone. Similarly, Bharat Biotech can also make two to three crore doses.
The virologist said that if you look at the public data, these two companies of India have so far produced 31–32 crore vaccine doses. Out of which about 120 million doses have been used in India so far and about 65 lakh doses have been sent out. He said that according to this, India should still have 10 million doses left. Therefore, there is no lack of vaccine.
