Congress-CPI rally in Bengal tells old photo viral with wrong claim

What we found in the investigation

When we looked at the photo in reverse image, we got a tweet stating that this photo is from the year 2019.

Also, we found an article dated February 10, 2019 published on a website called Peoples Democracy. This photo was used in this article. The article was titled, “WEST BENGAL: Brigade Turns into Red Sea”. In the article, it was known that on 3 February 2019, a crowd of thousands gathered at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. This rally was organized by the left front.

We got a report published on SCROll on 5 February 2019, which wrote that the Left Front has come together in Kolkata to give competition to TMC and BJP, so that they can show their strength in the upcoming elections.

Apart from this, we found a report published on 3 February 2019 on the website named PROKERALA in which this same photo was used. The title of this report was “Left Front Rally”. In this report, it was also informed that on 3 February 2019, workers of leftist parties took part in the Parade Ground rally of Kolkata on 3 February 2019 in Kolkata.

We found the same viral image on the Alamy website. In this, the date of this photo has been stated as 3 February 2019.

Meaning it is clear that about 2 years old photos are being shared on social media with the wrong claim.

Explain that for the upcoming elections in West Bengal, the Left Front has formed the Indian Secular Front (ISF) in alliance with the Congress. The Congress and the Left Front organized a rally in Kolkata on 28 February 2021.
