Amazon India is set to make products like Fire Stick in India. This may prove to be a major step towards the success of the government’s policy of promoting self-reliant India and local manufacturing.

Amazon India today said that it will set up its first production unit in Chennai. Where a large number of Amazon fire sticks will be made. The company’s manufacturing facility in Chennai could start operations by 2021.

Amazon has said that it will work with Cloud Network Technology, a contract manufacturer that is a subsidiary of the Taiwanese company Foxconn. Let us know that Foxconn is the world’s largest manufacturer of iPads, iPhones and Xiaomi devices.

Amit Agarwal, Global Senior Vice President of Amazon India, said that Amazon is committed to furthering the vision of self-reliant India and partnering with the Indian government. We are willing to invest $ 1 billion to provide digital technology to 10 million small and medium businesses in India. This will enable a large amount of exports from the country and by 2025, about one million people will get employment.

Amazon has further stated in its statement that it will start production of fire stick device from Chennai right now. If further growth in demand is seen, then production units will be set up in other cities as well.

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that India is very attractive for investment and electronics will emerge as a major producer in IT products. Our Government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has received good response globally. We welcome Amazon’s decision to set up a manufacturing unit in Chennai.
