Union Minister Babul Supriyo is facing severe criticism on social media over a controversial tweet made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The BJP leader had tweeted a meme, pinching his daughter Chahta Chahta, an election slogan issued by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over the Bengal assembly elections, in which she wrote, ‘Beti Pariya Dhana Hai’. He is being severely criticized for this meme. However, seeing the controversy escalate, Supriyo deleted this controversial tweet.
The Union Minister said in his clarification that I too have two daughters, so I cannot speak of anyone else. Actually, the ruling TMC in Bengal has given the slogan in the election this time, Bengal only needs its daughter. In retaliation for this slogan, Babul Supriyo shared a meme. It has a picture of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee holding the mic and written in Hindi – I am the daughter of Bengal. At the same time, below the picture of Mamta, there is a picture of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah folding hands, which says – daughters are alien money, this time will leave.
Sharing this meme, Babul Supriyo wrote that he will give it away this time. Sharing the tweet, Babul Supriyo said that this meme was done by BJP’s Asansol district unit. Babul Supriyo may have shared this meme due to taunting on Mamta Banerjee, but this tweet overshadowed the Union Minister. Along with TMC, many big journalists and social media users have raised objections about this mem.
A BJP leader also objected to Union Minister K Mim. After the controversy escalated, Babul Supriyo deleted his tweet and while clarifying on his tweet said that I believe that this meme was not to be shared with my account. At the same time, the Union Minister later told The Telegraph newspaper that he did not make this meme nor his statement in it. Supriyo said that he has two daughters of his own, so he does not talk such things to other parties.
