Kushinagar International Airport: Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar Airport has received the necessary clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the operation of international flights. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri gave this information on Tuesday. In June last year, the Union Cabinet had approved the grant of international facility status to Kushinagar Airport. The cabinet had said that this would improve the convenience of traffic to the important Buddhist site.
After starting international flights, it will become the third international flight service airport in the state. Puri tweeted, ‘Kushinagar will become the third international airport of Uttar Pradesh. This will boost tourism in the region and will facilitate travel in the Buddhist circuit. Nepal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are connected in the Buddhist circuit. Gautam Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal. Knowledge was attained in Gaya of Bihar and Nirvana took place in Kushinagar.
Currently, there are two international airports in the state – Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow and Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi. Apart from this, an international airport is being built in Jewar of Gautam Budh Nagar.
A Uttar Pradesh government official said that CM Yogi Adityanath had worked hard for this. According to the official, the first runway, approach road, peripheral road, drainage system, boundary wall, ATC tower, fire station, underground tank were completed and then applications were applied for the license of International Flight Service. All the work was already completed, so there was no problem in getting the license.
The official also said that the UP government is showing great readiness in construction work for the airport construction in Jewar and Ayodhya. International flight services will also be available from here in the coming days. After the completion of the work of these two airports, if there is approval for international flight, then there will be international flight facility at five airports in Uttar Pradesh.
