    Mutual Fund AMFI: Investors cautious in market uncertainty, investment in equity funds reduced, distance made from debt scheme also

    According to the latest data of Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), investment in equity mutual fund schemes declined by 16.3 per cent in June 2022.

    Mutual Funds Investment Trend: In the turmoil of the market, now equity mutual fund investors are also looking somewhat cautious. However, there is still a lot of investment in equity mutual fund category. According to the latest data of Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), investment in equity fund schemes declined by 16.3 per cent in June 2022. During this period, inflow of 15,497 crores was seen in this category, whereas in May there was an inflow of 18,529.43 crores in this category. Whereas in April this figure was Rs 15890.38 crore.

    970.24 cr in multicap, 2,130.35 cr in largecap, 1995 cr in large & midcap, 1852 cr in midcap fund, 966 cr in smallcap fund, 640 cr in ELSS and 2512 cr in flexi cap fund.

    Investors turning away from debt schemes

    Investors have distanced themselves from debt schemes during June 2022. An outflow of 92248 crores has been seen in this category. In the era of rate hike cycle, investors are afraid of diminishing returns in debt schemes. AMFI Chief Executive Officer NS Venkatesh says that institutional investors are more sensitive to interest rate fluctuations. They will usually be in wait-and-watch mode and see where the interest rate stabilizes.

    17.92 lakh new accounts opened in SIP

    During June 2022, 17.92 lakh new accounts were opened under SIP. This number has been falling month after month since April. NS Venkatesh says that due to high volatility in the market, investors are adopting a cautious approach. There was a slight decline in SIP contribution as compared to the previous month and it stood at Rs 12,275 crore.

    Selling in Arbitrage Fund

    In the hybrid category, an outflow of 5593 crores was seen in the Arbitrage Fund. Investment of 1130 crores came in Balance Hybrid Fund and about 1799 crores came in Dynamic Asset Allocation.

    AUM

    The total asset under management (AUM) of mutual funds declined to Rs 35.64 lakh crore in June from Rs 37.37 lakh crore in May 2022.
