In NPS for Traders and Self Employed Persons so far in 3 years there have been very few registrations as compared to PM Shramyogi Maandhan and PM Kisan Maandhan.
NPS for Traders and Self Employed Persons: The government pension scheme for small businessmen, Pradhan Mantri Laghu Traders Maandhan Yojana (now NPS for Traders and Self Employed Persons) is not taking off like other schemes. Especially this youth is not interested in it. Even after 3 years of launch, there is a slowdown regarding registration in it. While the other pension schemes to be launched with this, PM Shramyogi Maandhan and PM Kisan Maandhan are becoming very popular. NPS for Traders and Self Employed Persons is an initiative to provide social security to small businessmen, under which they will get a monthly pension of Rs 3000 after the age of 60 years.
50440 registrations so far
The Narendra Modi government started this scheme in September 2019. It is going to be about 3 years since the scheme started, but till now 50440 registrations have been done under it. On the other hand, 2273177 registrations have been done in PM Kisan Maandhan and 4683909 registrations have been done in PM so far.
More than 30,000 applications in 5 states alone
If we talk about different states, then only 5 states have received more than 30 thousand applications. Of these, about 50 percent registration has been done in Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh only.

Apart from these, the top states in terms of registration are Haryana, Bihar, Maharashtra and Tripura. In some states, the account has not even been opened yet or there have been very few registrations.
Young businessmen did not show interest
Under this scheme, young businessmen, whose age is between 18 and 25 years, have given less response. In total registration, the number of traders in the age group of 18 to 25 years is 11350. The number of people from 26 to 35 years is 23847. Whereas the number of people of 36 to 40 years is 11684. In this, the number of males is 29221, while the number of females is 17656.
Who will get the benefit of the scheme
*The person joining the scheme should be a retail trader or shop owner or self-employed.
* The benefit of this pension scheme will be available to all those businessmen whose annual turnover under GST is less than Rs 1.5 crore.
*Subscriber age should be between 18 years to 40 years.
* If you are EPF / NPS / ESIC subscribers, then the benefit of the scheme will not be available.
* The beneficiary of PM-SYM will also not get this benefit.
* If you deposit income tax, then you cannot join the scheme.
How to get the benefit of the scheme
People from 18 years to 40 years can join the scheme, whose contribution depends on their age. If you are 18 years old then you have to make a monthly contribution of Rs 55, if you are 29 years old, you will have to contribute Rs 100 and if you are 40 years old, you will have to make a monthly contribution of Rs 200 till the age of 60. The government will also deposit the same amount in the account on its behalf.
To take advantage of the pension scheme, you can register by visiting the Common Service Center. To take advantage of this scheme, one should have a savings bank account or Jan Dhan account with Aadhar card and IFSC code.
