Atal Pension Yojana News: Atal Pension Yojana (APY), a social security scheme launched for the people of the unorganized sector, is a great scheme for married people. Under this scheme, husband and wife can get a pension of Rs 10,000 per month in old age by opening separate accounts. This scheme was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 9 May 2015. The main target of this scheme is the unorganized sector.
Any Indian citizen of 18 to 40 years can invest in this scheme and can take advantage of pension scheme in old age. Any citizen of 18 to 40 years who has a savings account in a bank or post office can join this scheme.
Under this government-guaranteed scheme, you get a pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 depending on the contribution made by him from the retirement age of 60 years. According to the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), as of August 25, the number of people joining this scheme in India has reached 3.30 crore.
If a person joins this scheme at the age of 18, then after the age of 60, he will have to deposit only Rs 210 per month for a monthly pension of Rs 5,000 every month. At the same time, spouses below the age of 39 years can avail this scheme separately, from which after the age of 60, they will get a pension of Rs 10,000 every month in combination.
According to the data, 28 lakh people have joined this scheme in the current financial year. Regional rural banks have 61.32 lakh, private banks 20.64 lakh, small finance banks and payments banks collectively 10.78 lakh, postal department 3.40 lakh and cooperative banks have 84,627 APY accounts.
Under this scheme, you can get a minimum monthly pension of Rs 1,000, Rs 2000, Rs 3000, Rs 4000 and maximum Rs 5,000. It is a safe investment in which if you want to register then you need to have a savings account, Aadhar number and a mobile number.
Talking about various states, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Odisha have more than 10 lakh Atal Pension accounts as of August 25.
