However, this benefit will be available only to those retired employees who were in employment under the scheme for at least 5 years after April 1, 2012, and also retired with a monthly salary of Rs 30,000 on or after April 1, 2015. Ayush policy approved
AYUSH policy was also approved in this meeting. Union Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav said that AYUSH 2023 policy will also be brought for the mental and physical welfare of the employees covered under the ESI scheme. This policy will be implemented in all ESIC centres, under which many facilities like Panchkarma, Kshara Sutra and AYUSH Units will be opened in ESIC hospitals.
Medical infrastructure will be expanded
Bhupendra Yadav said that the government will increase medical services and infrastructure in North-East State and Sikkim, so that the people of this region can get proper treatment. Plans are being made to establish ESIC dispensaries, medical infrastructure, regional-sub-regional offices in these states. Apart from this, construction of 100 bedded hospitals each in Karnataka and Idukki, Udupi, Kerala, 150 bedded hospitals in Malerkotla, Punjab and ESIC Medical Colleges and Hospitals in Alwar, Rajasthan and Bihta, Bihar for non-IP people. It has been decided to extend the free ESI healthcare facilities being provided till 31 March 2025.

It is worth noting that the people covered under the ESI scheme and their family members provide full expenses for medical attendance, treatment, medicines and injections, specialist consultation and even hospitalization. The ESI scheme is for factories and other establishments like road transport, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, newspapers, shops and educational/medical institutions employing 10 or more people.
