EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organisation) has made the process of application or claim related to PF, pension and insurance of private employees very easy and started resolving them expeditiously. According to the new rules, your work should be done within 3 to 7 working days from the date of your application.
Whenever you apply online or offline in EPFO, to withdraw PF or withdraw advance, you can check the status online to know the action taken on the same by EPFO. While checking the status, different types of messages are displayed depending on the process of your application. Meaning of Payment under process
On checking the status of an EPF claim, if in front of it payment under process If it is written, it means-Your EPF withdrawal application has been accepted by EPFO. Further process on this is going on. Once the process is complete, money will be sent to your bank account through NEFT.
How many days does the payment under process take?
It usually takes 3 to 7 working days to settle PF, pension and insurance related matters of private employees. This means that even if there are holidays in between, your work is done within 10 days. According to a report, 83% of PF related cases are resolved within 10 days. Even among them 43% of the cases are settled within 3 days. Only 17% of the cases are left which take more than 10 days to settle. Most of them too are settled within 20 days. about 97% The cases were being settled within 20 days, which has now been directed to reach 100%.
Medical emergency advance should be received on the same day: In case of hospitalization due to corona or any other serious illness, it has been made a rule to issue medical emergency advance of up to Rs 1 lakh on the same day. In case of medical emergency advance, even the hospital bill or statement is not required and it is issued on the application of the employee or any member of his family.

Even in other normal cases, even if there is a delay due to any reason, then according to the new rules of EPFO, it is mandatory to dispose of any case within 20 days. Earlier, the maximum period for disposal of a case was 30 days, which has been reduced to 20 days with effect from July 2021. For online claim, prerequisites requirements for filing Online Claims?
You will be able to make any online claim or application related to PF or pension only if the conditions mentioned below are fulfilled with your EPF account. If you do not complete any of these tasks, then either you will not be able to complete the application process, or your claim will be rejected.
- Your UAN number should be activated and the mobile number associated with it should be active.
- AADHAAR number should be linked with your UAN number. So that, your identity related details (eKYC) can be verified by UIDAI by sending OTP to the mobile number related to it.
- In your PF account, your bank account number (including IFSC code) should be linked.
- Your PAN number should also be linked with your PF account. Especially if your job is less than 5 years. ,
- The stipulated period of employment should have been completed for the claim. For example, to withdraw the full PF, at least 2 months should be completed from leaving the job and not joining any other job. How to know the settlement of claim?
As soon as your EPF claim is settled, the message of settled starts appearing on the EPFO website. This information also comes on your mobile. On this the date of payment sent through NEFT is also recorded. We are also giving a sample of such a message here-

Within 2 to 3 days of the date of payment which is entered in the message showing the settlement, the money is credited to your bank account. Actually, normal NEFT banking transfers are done within 1 to 24 hours, but EPF related NEFT transfers take 2 to 3 days.

How to know if claim is rejected?
If the EPFO office has not accepted your claim, then a message of rejection will also come. The reason for the rejection will also be recorded in the message. We are also giving a sample of such messages below-

If money is not received after 3 weeks of claiming EPF and no message is received, then you can complain to EPFO. EPFO has maintained a separate Grievance Portal for this. The web address of this portal is https://epfigms.gov.in/

As soon as you complete the process of registering your complaint, you will get its unique registration number. With the help of this number, you can check the status of your complaint in future. This information is also sent to your registered mobile number and email id. Note: As per EPFO guidelines, your complaint should be processed within 7 days. If your complaint is not processed within the stipulated period, you can send a reminder.

What to do if you can’t find a solution online
If you do not get the right solution or answer for complaining through online methods, then you should contact the EPFO office. You can give your written complaint there. The government has established 21 zonal offices, 138 regional offices and 117 district offices of EPFO in different parts of the country. Still don’t get solution then use RTI
If you do not get the right solution by any of the above mentioned measures, then you can seek a reply from EPFO, by filing RTI. With this you will know the status of your EPF claim. Under the RTI Act 2005, the department is required to respond to any query within 20 days.
