Maharashtra’s budget session starts today

The budget session of the Maharashtra Legislature is starting from March 1, which is likely to be uproar. In the budget session to be held in the wake of rising cases of Corona virus infection in the state, the opposition party BJP may surround the state government on many issues. There will be only eight business days in this ten-day budget session. The state budget will be presented on 8 March.

In view of the corona infection in Maharashtra, the state’s budget session will last only 10 days this time. Bills related to revenue, higher education and housing can be introduced in the session. The “Powers Act”, with a provision for stringent punishment in crimes against women and children, is with the Joint Select Committee of both the Houses. The state budget session usually lasts for six weeks, but this period has been reduced in the wake of Corona virus infection. The BJP had recently alleged that the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government was refraining from discussing its failure by reducing the duration of the session in the guise of the situation created by the infection, but state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anil Parab On Thursday claimed that the opposition parties want to call a one-day session.

State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anil Parab said that the budget session of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will be on 1 and 10 March, the budget will be presented on 8 March. He said that the state government will table the supplementary demands on the first day. The House will discuss the Governor’s speech on March 2, while the next two days are reserved to discuss supplementary demands. Whereas on 5 March, the House will discuss the proposals of the opposition parties and some bills will also be introduced. There will be no meeting on 6 and 7 March as it is a weekend. Former state chief minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, alleging that this government is afraid of questions, so the fear of Corona has reduced the days of the budget session. You stay out day and night for political work, but the fear of Corona being shown when the session is named. Significantly, the administration is upset with the increase in the incidence of corona infection in Maharashtra.
