Engagement of talent through internships is a key element of the firm’s campus hiring strategy in India
After the subsidence of the corona epidemic, there is a significant growth in almost all the businesses. The focus on digitization has also increased a lot after the pandemic. Due to this, the demand of people in top banking and financial services firms has increased tremendously. To meet this demand, companies are on hiring overdrive. They have increased campus hiring in engineering colleges and business schools in the country.
Big focus on technology roles
Apart from jobs in Finance, Operations, Treasury, Risk, Analytics, Research, Investment Banking and Corporate Banking, the major focus this year is technology roles. Axis Bank is planning to increase its campus hiring by 50% as compared to last year. For 2022, Goldman Sass’s India campus hiring will increase by 27%, hiring over 1,900 people, including interns. JP Morgan will increase the campus hiring of full time analysts by 23% and intern hiring by 38%. Apart from this, others including Citi, Dutch Bank and Mastercard are also hiring people.
What did Goldman Sass say?
The Economic Times quoted Deepika Banerjee, Co-Head, Goldman Sass Services, as saying, “In 2022, our campus higher growth in graduate colleges, engineering colleges and business schools will grow by 43%, 24% and 6%, respectively. This reflects the growth in businesses and availability of world class talent in India. A key element of the firm’s campus hiring strategy in India is to engage talent through internships.
Increased demand for core and new age skills
Gaurav Ahluwalia, HR Head, India Corporate Centers, JP Morgan said, “Technology and techno-functional roles are the most needed people. At the same time, Rajkamal Vempati, HR Head, Axis Bank said, we are increasing our hiring. After recovering from the pandemic, there has been a sharp increase in the demand for core and new age skills.
Mastercard to hire 500 graduates
In the coming year, Mastercard plans to hire around 500 graduates from the 2022 batch under the Launchers Program in areas such as software development engineering, data engineering, analytics consulting, artificial intelligence and more. Campus like IIM Ahmedabad is witnessing a jump in the number of companies. Ankur Sinha, chairperson of the placement committee, said that during the recent summer placements, there has been a 27 per cent increase in the number of companies offering investment banking, market research and asset and wealth management roles as compared to the previous year.
