You can invest in this scheme from today ie from March 1 to March 5. In the Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme, the new issue price of the bond has been fixed at Rs 4,662 per gram (Rs 46620 per ten gram). The country’s largest government bank State Bank of India (SBI) is offering the opportunity to buy SGB online.

Investors can also buy gold bonds from commercial banks, Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), RBI designated post offices and recognized exchanges. Under the scheme, individual investors and Hindu undivided families can buy at least 1 gram and maximum 4 kg of gold in a financial year. The trust and other such units can buy 20 kg of gold every year.

500 rupees per 10 grams will get cheaper gold

Investors will get a rebate of 50 rupees per gram for applying online and making payments through digital medium. In such a situation, if you invest in online sovereign gold bonds, then you will get a rebate of 500 rupees per 10 grams.

Invest in SGB through SBI

>> Log in to your SBI Net Banking account.
>> Click on eServices and go to Sovereign Gold Bond.
>> Select ‘Terms and Conditions’ and click on ‘proceed’.
>> Fill the registration form. This is a one-time registration.
>> Click Submit.
>> Enter the amount of gold and nominee details in the purchase form.
>> Now click on submit.

In a tweet, SBI said 6 benefits of investing in sovereign gold bonds. Interest income is taxed, while capital gains are completely tax free on redeeming bonds.
